Zoo Day

Not the hottest day but still a nice trip to the zoo. We added Carina's friend Gretchen to our family and we all had a great time.
Really cute new addition to the zoo. It was fun how much they scurried around and watched us watching them!
We spent some time watching the giraffes use their 18inch black tongues to capture leaves off of some high and low branches. We learned that the Maple Leaves are their favorite snack as well as bananas.

Releasing Salmon

I joined Katie for a walking field trip to a nearby creek where her class joined 4 others in releasing some Salmon the school hatched in a tank outside the library. The rain held off to allow us a nice walk.

Carina's Spring Recreation Class

Carina and her friend, Annika, took a movement class at the local park and rec department. It was a fun class of exercise with Mickey Mouse (on tape), movement songs, hula hoops, bean bags, and musical instruments.

Growing Flowers

Our flowers are doing well after one week! Great job girls! Thanks for helping to water and care for them.

Mother's Day Planting

We started this fine sunny Saturday as a girls day of planting. Gigi and Grandma helped the girls pick a variety of flowers from a local nursery. After lunch, they all worked hard to plant them for our deck and surrounding beds. We also bought two tomato plants and some chive seeds and multi-colored carrot seeds. The girls are excited to watch everything grow and to take responsibility for the care of the plants.
